A general home inspection is not an exhaustive inspection. Its purpose is to provide a "snapshot" in time of the overall conditions observed within a real property before purchase. The goal being to determine whether the property is generally safe and structurally sound. Smart real estate buyers and loan officials will typically request an inspection be performed. This will provide extra protection against finding major problems and being stuck with major bills after purchase.
